6 Tactless Things you shouldn’t say to a Couple on their Wedding Day
After all the work that goes into planning a wedding, the last thing a bride or groom wants to hear is any of these.
Let’s face it, planning a wedding is hard work. From rounding up numerous vendors and making myriad choices about everything from flowers to food, it can all get a bit stressful for the bride and groom. With this in mind, it’s best to avoid saying these things when you see them.
HOW COME (INSERT NAME) ISN’T INVITED/A BRIDESMAID?
Who the couple invites to the wedding or the bride has in her bridal party is up to the newlyweds, and is absolutely none of your business.
THIS MUST HAVE COST A FORTUNE!
Even if it did, it’s simply bad form to ask about how much the couple or their families forked out for the wedding, so unless the information is volunteered, don’t go there.
OMG, (INSERT COUPLE’S NAME) DID THE SAME THING!
There is absolutely no way any couple will want to hear about how someone else decided to go for the exact same décor/dress/souvenirs as them.
WHAT’S BECOME OF (INSERT EX’S NAME)?
Exes discussion is simply no-go territory at someone’s wedding.
SO, WHEN ARE YOU HAVING KIDS?
Again, none of your business. The couple might not be planning on having kids in the near future or at all, or a physical problem might prevent them from being able to do so – a question like this can cause unnecessary pain, which is sure not to be your intention.
HOW COME YOU DON’T HAVE AN OPEN BAR/BUFFER TABLE ETC?
Every wedding is different, and while Johnny and Susie may have wanted to fill their guests’ tummies with a full on buffet feast, this couple opted to go without – they’re sure to have their reasons, and it’s rude to ask.
