For the groom
Suits for every season
Whether your groom decides to rent, buy off the rack or get a custom made suit for your big day, one sure-fire aspect to take into account when considering a style is the season. Considering the season as well as the formality of the event will point you in the right direction and have your man looking his best while feeling comfortable too.
For springtime nuptials, light fabrics like seersucker are ideal, and lend your groom’s look a preppy feel which will go beautifully against a backdrop of springtime blooms! Our favourites are navy and classic blue and white for spring, but don’t forget to put an emphasis on the fit – easily the most important detail for a suit.
If you’ve chosen to tie the knot in summer, it would be nothing short of cruelty to expect your groom to wear anything other than cotton or linen, particularly in the cruel Maltese heat. Forgo the tuxedo in favour of a cool and breezy look that will ensure his comfort both while saying his vows and hitting the dance floor. It need not look too casual, unless your wedding is more of a relaxed affair; simply opt for the same style you would have gone for in a lighter fabric.
As the weather starts turning and the temperature drops, it’s time to consider wool. For an autumn wedding, go for a chic, slim wool suit. We love greys and charcoals against an autumn backdrop of burnt orange, but it also depends on your chosen wedding colours. Now that it’s a little cooler, you can also consider three-piece options, which look smart and will help keep the groom warm.
Winter is the perfect season to have your man channel a little James Bond. Think Casino Royale and go for a perfectly fitting tuxedo as the groom waits for you beside a vintage car which is waiting to take you from the ceremony to a decadent ballroom reception and classic winter white affair – it’s sure to take a little chill out of the air at this time of year!
